What do you think of the beginning of my story? Would you keep reading?

It's okay. There are a few grammatical and stylistic errors, but the pacing and description are both decent. Keep in mind though that this introduction is obviously hiding a lot from the reader; readers don't like to feel 'shut out', so you WILL have to provide explanations for a lot of this stuff sooner, rather than later.
